DREAMS DEFERRED AND DENIED: THE BUSH RECORD ON HIGHER EDUCATION-PDF |
As
a candidate for president, Governor George W. Bush said: College
is every parents dream for their children. Its the
path to achievement. We should make this path open to all.
Yet President Bushs policies have turned the path to better
opportunities into a toll road on which fewer American families
can afford to travel. |

LEAVING
THE EDUCATION BUDGET BEHIND:
THE PRESIDENTS LONG-TERM PLAN
FOR EDUCATION FUNDING-PDF |
Administration
officials have touted the education increase in the Presidents
FY 2005 budget as the largest for any domestic agency. While
education programs fare modestly better in this years
budget than other domestic programs held to a freeze, there
is little reason to celebrate. The Administrations FY
2005 education request falls billions below the amounts promised
in the No Child Left Behind Act for remedial education for disadvantaged
children, teacher training and technology, and student testing.
It also fails to provide adequate college assistance. |

Not a Bush Budget Priority |
Good
morning, Chairman Nussle, Ranking Member Spratt, thank you for
the opportunity to testify on the Bush Administrations
fiscal year 2005 Education Budget. This is the fourth budget
sent to Congress by the Bush Administration. Like the three
Bush budgets that preceded it, this budget demonstrates that
this Administration does not view education as a priority. |

by the Congressional Research Service. |

Seeks To Leave Bush Law Behind-Republicans Fight School Mandates |
The
Republican-controlled Virginia House of Delegates sharply criticized
President Bush's signature education program Friday, calling
the No Child Left Behind Act an unfunded mandate that threatens
to undermine the state's own efforts to improve students' performance. |

Bush truly renounce privilege in admissions?-By Derrick Z. Jackson |
We
don't know yet what Bush thought to himself as he left the Unity
conference of African-American, Hispanic, Asian-American, and
Native American journalists. But even the world's most famous
legacy admission and the world's most glaring example of privilege
with his C average at Yale, had to realize the seismic proportions
of what he said. |
